After talking to my friend Paulette another traveler, I decided to follow her example and go back to blogging. What better way to chronicle my experience but through blogging.
This had been a busy social week starting on Sunday. Sunday was spent having lunch with my two at the friends Sharon and Cherly at the Haciendo- Mexican restaurant. We then went hiking on part of the beautiful coastal trails. From this vintage point we were able to see Mount Mckinley or the Denali the highest mountain range in North America..
On Monday, another hike on a different part of the Tony Knowles coastal trails with the group from Alaska Great Outdoors. This trail is 10 miles long and so one can do a different part of it several times in a week. Prior to the hike there was moose sighting. It is always so excited to spot these long legged creatures and their young ones.
Tuesday night it was dining out with the ladies from work. This time we were eating out at the Paris Cafe, French restaurant, where every 1st Tuesday a complete 3 course meal from a different part of France, is featured. This time it was chicken liver mousse , alaskan halibut with herb vinaigrette, breast of chicken with a ginger sauce, green salad with roquetefort cheese and coconut cheese flan with raspberry sauce. Delicious!
Wednesday- Paulette and I decided to go sledding after work at the Russian Jack Trails. At a mere 13 degrees we had our hand warmers and had a ball coming down those slopes. We were treated with sights of the Anchorage Junior Nodika Skiing League. It was great and motivating to see kids 3 years old skiing. When all was said and done we went to warm up at the Moose's Tooth pub and pizzaria. We had the salmon spread as appetizer and solstic pizza for me, Paulette and some spicy pepperoni.
Thursday evening, I decided to take it easy and come home and rest. First though I just had to capture the sunset and visited the Alaska Native Hospital to view the, artifacts, crafts and the way of life as depicted in art of the Native Alaskan as shown in a showcase on each floor of the hospital. Pretty neat!
