A 2.2 mile natural surface trail adjacent to the South Fork of the Catawba River, 4 miles round trip
A historic trail that was originally used by Native Americans and then by settlers for textile mills.

It Is In Giving That We Receive

At Wednesday night prayer service my pastor had made a statement that resonated deep within , " a life withdrawn from service to God and man will lack true meaning and vitality ". For the past 5 years living here in the QC, I have not done for the most part the thing that has given  me one of the greatest satisfaction and thus my physical, emotional and spiritual well being had not been what it ought to be. This past Sunday I had the opportunity to participate in an activity with a Meet  Up group called " Doing My Part- Hitting the Streets - Feeding the Homeless on the Streets of Charlotte ". I don't know who was more blessed, the "less fortunate" or this woman whose life had been less fortunate,  withdrawn from service from both God and my fellow human. Booker T Washington said it best, "A sure way to uplift yourself is to uplift others". Thank God He had afforded me the opportunity to once again realized how blessed I am and walking away this particular evening feeling so uplifted. I pray it not be a momentary experience but one that will last by His grace.

Sightseeing Cruise down the Hudson on a crisp fall evening in September 2013

It does not get any better than a  crisp fall Sunday evening  leisure sailing down the Hudson and taking in the surrounding sights and sounds. What makes it even more beautiful is that I am sharing it with Valencia, who recently migrated from Jamaica West Indies. All these years of living in this area, I have never appreciated the rich history, culture  and beauty that lays in the surrounding landscapes until today. Indeed NYNJ is the gateway to the world.
